Astro on Demand Awards 2012

Malaysia will be having their annual Astro on Demand Awards on December 2, 2012. Below are the nominees and my own personal opinion on who my choice is, not necessarily who I predict will win. Voting is only open to Malaysia residents

My Favorite TV Actor in a Leading Role
Bosco Wong (Witness Insecurity)
Michael Tse (Sergeant Tabloid)
Kevin Cheng (Gloves Come Off)
Moses Chan (Master of Play)
Kenneth Ma (The Hippocratic Crush)
Raymond Wong (Gloves Come Off)
Ruco Chan (No Good Either Way)
Raymond Lam (Highs And Lows)
Michael Miu (Highs And Lows)
Damian Lau (Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles)
Wayne Lai (The Confidant)
Roger Kwok (Queens of Diamonds and Hearts)

Highs and Lows has not completed airing yet but I am enjoying Raymond Lam as Happy Sir. Of the completed series, I would choose Kenneth Ma. I'm surprised Kevin Cheng is not nominated for Ghetto Justice 2 instead.

My Favorite TV Actress in a Leading Role
Sharon Chan (Queen of Diamonds and Hearts)
Fala Chen (Queen of Diamonds and Hearts)
Michelle Yim (The Confidant)
Tavia Yeung (The Hippocratic Crush)
Kate Tsui (Highs and Lows)
Maggie Siu (Master of Play)
Maggie Cheung (The Last Steep Ascent)
Gigi Wong (Divas in Distress)
Liza Wang (Divas in Distress)
Myolie Wu (Ghetto Justice 2)
Linda Chung (Witness Insecurity)
Charmaine Sheh (When Heaven Burns)

My choice would definitely be Myolie Wu in Ghetto Justice 2. Yes, I am slightly biased but I do think she did an exceptional job portraying her character and playing up both the playful and emotional scenes in this series.

My Favorite TV Actor in a Supporting Role
Edwin Siu (Daddy Good Deeds)
Ram Chiang (Witness Insecurity)
Him Law (The Hippocratic Crush)
Evergreen Mak (House of Harmony and Vengeance)
Lau Dan (4 In Love)
Pierre Ngo (King Maker)
Ben Wong (Highs and Lows)
Jazz Lam (Ghetto Justice 2)
Kenny Wong (Master of Play)
Koo Ming Way (Divas in Distress)

Ram Chiang was one of the highlights in Witness Insecurity so he has my choice.

My Favorite TV Actress in a Supporting Role
Elaine Yiu (Bottled Passion)
Krystal Tin (King Maker)
Elena Kong (Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles)
Mandy Wong (L'Escargot)
Florence Kwok (No Good Either Way)
Angela Wong (House of Harmony and Vengeance)
Nancy Wu (Gloves Come Off)
Rachel Kan (Master of Play)
Natalie Tong (King Maker)
Aimee Chan (The Last Steep Ascent)

Right now, my choice would be Nancy Wu in Gloves Come Off but Elena Kong is stealing the show right now in Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles so my choice my switch to her.

My Favorite Most Improved Actor
MC Jin (Highs and Lows)
Oscar Leung (L'Escargot)
Jason Chan (No Good Either Way)
Otto Chan (Gloves Come Off)
Glen Lee (Master of Play)

Nice to see Otto and Glen recognized! However, my choice is the scene-stealing Oscar Leung.

My Favorite Most Improved Actress
Mandy Wong (L'Escargot)
Katy Kung (Gloves Come Off)
Eliza Sam (Divas in Distress)
Samantha Ko (The Last Steep Ascent)
Cilla Kung (Divas Good Deeds)

I think Samantha Ko did an excellent job in The Last Steep Ascent but Mandy Wong is leaps ahead of the other nominees. I'm hoping for both Mandy and Oscar to win this category.

My Favorite TV Couple
Niki Chow & Raymond Wong (Bottled Passion)
Nathan Ngai & Candy Chang (The Hippocratic Crush)
Moses Chan & Charmaine Sheh (Let It Be Love)
Kevin Cheng & Selena Li (Gloves Come Off)
Kenneth Ma & Tavia Yeung (The Hippocratic Crush)
Ruco Chan & Kristal Tin (No Good Either Way)
Bosco Wong & Linda Chung (Witness Insecurity)
Kevin Cheng & Myolie Wu (Ghetto Justice II)
Him Law & Mandy Wong (Divas In Distress)
Raymond Lam & Kate Tsui (Highs And Lows)

Keving Cheng and Myolie Wu built on their chemistry from the first series and I had lots of fun watching them in the sequel. This pairing is definitely one of my favorites in the recent years.

My Favorite TV Theme Song
Moses Chan, Bowie Lam, Kenny Wong (When Heaven Burns)
Joey Yung (The Hippocratic Crush)
Linda Chung (Witness Insecurity)
Hubert Wu (The Last Steep Ascent
Raymond Lam (Highs and Lows)

My favorite is definitely the theme song to The Hippocratic Crush.

My Favorite TV Series
The Hippocratic Crush
Gloves Come Off
Master of Play
Witness Insecurity
Three Kingdoms RPG
Ghetto Justice II
King Maker
The Last Steep Ascent
 Highs and Lows
Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles
The Confidant
When Heaven Burns

I really enjoyed The Hippocratic Crush, Gloves Come Off, and Ghetto Justice 2. No Tiger Cubs?! That would have been my choice if it was on there.

Top 15 Favorite Characters
Too many to list!

My Favorite Promising Artist
Mandy Wong
Edwin Siu
Florence Kwok
Koo Ming Wah
Ram Chiang

I don't really have a preference since I'd be happy for any of them to be recognized.

My Favorite Classic Role
Charmaine Sheh - Lau Sam Ho (Beyond the Realm of Conscience)
Michael Tse - Leung Siu Tong, Laughing (E.U)
Kevin Cheng - Law Lik Ah (Ghetto Justice)
Wayne Lai - Chai Kau (Rosy Business)
Sheren Tang - Cheng Kau Mui (No Regrets)

Other than Lau Sam Ho, I really enjoyed all of these characters.

Lead actor: I haven't seen them yet, but I'm sure I'll be liking Wayne and Michelle. Otherwise, I choose Kate and Michael Miu

Supporting: Ben Wong and Florence Kwok are great veterans that always excel at whatever role they're given.

Improved: Mandy and Oscar.

COuple: I guess I'll choose Kevin and Myolie, but I only enjoyed them at the beginning before the whole ex-wife thing.

Theme song: No question, Hippocratic Crush by Joey Yung

Series: I sure itt'll be The Confidant, but for now King Maker.

Promising Artist: So Gei.

Classic role: Yeah, I didn't like goody two shoes Sam Ho either. Other than that, I liked all of them but if I had to choose, it'll be Sharen in No Regrets. I love watching tough ladies.
